The U.S. Department of Energy announced the renewal of its five National Quantum Information Science Research Centers for up to five additional years at a total investment of $625 million. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (Richland, WA) --- a founding partner of the Northwest Quantum Nexus --- continues as a named partner on three of the five centers, contributing expertise in quantum chemistry, quantum sensing, and materials characterization. The first-year investment of $125 million is available immediately, with outyear funding subject to congressional appropriations.
